You squeeze through a break in the stone wall and find stairs leading underground. At the bottom, purple light spills across the floor. Amethyst grows between the columns, lighting carvings worn almost smooth.

The air carries the rich sweetness of dark grapes and pomegranate, with black cognac warming beneath it. You follow the scent through a row of arches into a chamber that stretches beyond the crystals’ light.

An old offering table stands against the wall. There are goblets still resting in its shallow niches, their silver darkened with age. Above them, carved figures hold up bowls of fruit.

Farther inside, purple oud begins to fill the air. Smooth wood and resin mingle with the cognac as the fruit softens. The scent feels strangely rich in a place abandoned this long.

You stop beside the table and run your thumb over the rim of a goblet. A clean crescent shows through the tarnish.
