You push open the heavy door and step into a chamber lit by red candles. Their flames stir in the draft, casting light across stone pillars and rows of leather-bound books. The air carries the rich scent of tobacco, dark and warm.

At the far end of the room, a hooded figure sits behind an altar. A small pile of freshly ground coffee rests beside his hand, its bitter aroma rising through the candlelight. You approach slowly, brushing your fingers across the worn leather of an empty chair.

He opens a book and turns it toward you. Its pages are covered in names. Beside it, an ornate dagger holds down a folded sheet of parchment.

As you take your seat, a soft trace of black vanilla comes through the tobacco and coffee. You lean closer to read the page. There is one blank line beneath the final name.

The figure places a pen beside your hand.

Behind you, the heavy door closes.
